Are we underrating cleaning services?

A few weeks ago, I saw a post on a neighborhood forum where someone was asking how much they should charge as a graphic designer. The responses all suggested considering the time spent studying and developing skills, as well as the effort put into the work. It made sense—if you have invested time and money into learning a profession, it should be reflected in your pricing.

This got me thinking about cleaning services. When I get asked about our rates, I often hear, ‘That seems expensive.’ People sometimes think cleaning is simple—something anyone can do. But what they may not realize is that it is not just about the physical act of cleaning. Like any profession, there is a lot of behind-the-scenes work involved. I studied business, and I dedicate time to managing the operational side of things, handling client communications, and creating tailored cleaning plans. All of this requires significant time and effort.

Sure, anyone can grab a broom, but that does not mean they can clean efficiently or safely. Just like not everyone can design a professional logo or create a website, not everyone can clean to the standard that a professional can. Both professions require expertise and experience to get the best results.

The next time we question the price of a service—whether it is cleaning, design, or any other profession—let’s think about all the unseen work that goes into it. The true value is not just the task at hand; it is the knowledge, skill, and effort behind it.

And to close this post, I want to dedicate it to all our team members. Many of us come from backgrounds where cleaning is underrated and not seen as a profession. But let us remember: the work we do is valuable, and we are valuable because of the work we do. We are not just cleaning spaces—we are bringing peace of mind to homes, helping others feel comfortable and cared for. The work we do truly makes a difference, and now we recognize its true value.

Until next time,
Alma
