In the last few months, I have been listening to a podcast called Penitencia, where the host interviews imprisoned individuals. Some of them are guilty, some got involved with the wrong people, and sadly, others were unfairly charged for simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
While the podcast’s primary focus is on the individuals and their experiences, one recurring theme stood out to me: the lack of acknowledgment during their childhood.
I always knew acknowledgment was important, but hearing these stories deepened my understanding of just how vital it is for personal development. This made me reflect on how a similar lack of acknowledgment can impact a business’s growth as well.
You are right that acknowledging a child’s achievements is not the same as recognizing a business’s milestones. However, when we provide feedback on a business, we are not just participating in a sales transaction. We are acknowledging the efforts of the people behind it, signaling whether their work is making a positive or negative impact.
For example, leaving a positive review for a business you have had a great experience with shows appreciation for their service and encourages them to keep up the good work. Another way to acknowledge a business is by referring them to friends or family, which demonstrates your confidence in their product or service. Both actions not only help a business grow but also give the team behind it the recognition they deserve.
At the end of the day, recognition plays a crucial role in shaping both personal and business growth. Whether it is through feedback, support, or simple appreciation, acknowledging others’ efforts contributes to their success—and our own. Let’s make a habit of celebrating the hard work we see around us, because acknowledgment is a powerful tool for progress.
What do you think?
Until next time,
